REACH RS2
Point collection for RTK-based UAV point-to-point spraying with the Reach RS2
Point collection of young palm trees at an oil palm estate in south Selangor, Malaysia.
Data collection with the Reach RS2
Centimeter-accurate flying precision
The main objective of this mission was to test our point-to-point agriculture drone spraying action on a small number of young palms that are susceptible to pests. UAV Point-to-Point (PTP) spraying is a pest eradication method, spraying a singular spot or tree for a short period of time before flying to the next tree to repeat its spraying process, as opposed to regular blanket spraying where the spray action is continuous.
For the drone to achieve the most precise flight path, accurate precise coordinate points are required. By using the Emlid Reach RS2, we were able to tag a total of 26 points, starting with the first Take Off Point (TOP) in a space that is clear enough for take off.
The points were collected in such a way where the last sprayed oil palm tree is the closest to the landing point (TOP) , making the flight path as efficient as possible.
With the data collected, we exported the points to a CSV file and loaded it into our flight planning system.
By using the Reach RS2, we were able to achieve centimeter-accurate flying precision without the need of positioning offsets or adjustments in the flight planning system.
